Weiss Distilling Co Celebrates Its Local Roots

CLAWSON, MI — Eight childhood friends, three University of Michigan grads and one bachelor party campfire is how Detroit City Distillery got its start more than a decade ago. Today, the Eastern Market-based distillery makes small-batch artisan whiskey, gin and vodka. Its event space and tasting room is also a reminder of Detroit’s rich brewing history.

But during the COVID-19 crisis, the distillery’s production facilities were redirected to a new purpose: supplying hand sanitizer to frontline workers around the region. In less than 72 hours, the team adapted their facility and quickly sourced the personal protective equipment (PPE) needed to help keep people safe.

That pivot was a challenge, but Metro Detroit Distillery and his partners at the distillery saw an opportunity to support their community. They knew that many local organizations were facing critical deficits in PPE supplies and decided to help them out by donating a large amount of their own product.

Exploring Detroit’s Craft Distillery Scene: Weiss Distilling Co at the Forefront

Since then, the company has continued to find ways to celebrate what makes Detroit special with products like a Paczki Day vodka made with raspberry paczki from Hamtramck’s New Palace Bakery and a single-barrel Detroit City Distillery Honey Bourbon. It even collaborates with nonprofits to make limited-edition cocktails and bottles to raise money and awareness.

And for summer, the distillery is getting into the spirit of the season with a Weiss in the Wild jungle theme. You’ll see monkeys hanging from the ceiling, tiki cups and drink menu items with a playful twist. Try a Weiss-A-Rita, a margarita with Weiss Lightning whiskey, orange liqueur, simple syrup, lime and hellfire bitters. The bar’s staff is also dropping Weiss in the Wild collectable coins around town, so bring one back to the bar to get a shot for free.

Attic Insulation Types

Attic insulation is an important factor in the energy efficiency and comfort of your home. Low attic insulation levels can cause your air conditioning and heating systems to work harder, which will increase your energy bills. It can also lead to hot and cold spots in the house, especially during the winter. High attic insulation levels can significantly reduce these problems and save you money.

Attic Insulation are a variety of attic insulation types available to suit your needs and budget. The most common is fiberglass batt or roll insulation, which comes in pre-cut blankets that fit between attic joists and trusses. It’s a good option for attics with standard joist spacing and few obstructions in the attic space. Fiberglass is inexpensive, resists heat flow well and doesn’t promote mold growth.

The Benefits of Spray Foam Attic Insulation for Your Home

Another option is blown-in cellulose insulation. This attic insulation type is made from recycled materials and is more eco-friendly than other options. It’s installed using special machinery to blow the loose-fill material into attic spaces, ensuring it covers all areas evenly. It also has a moisture barrier and can prevent ice dams in the winter.

Spray foam insulation is more expensive than other attic insulation types, but it’s very effective and can help you save on your energy bill. It’s sprayed directly onto attic surfaces and expands to fill gaps and cracks, so it’s great for sealing attics with odd layouts or lots of obstacles in the way. It’s available in open- and closed-cell varieties, which differ in their resistance to moisture and strength.

New Generation Spray Foam Insulation

The best home insulation in Athens ga is the one that prevents unwanted air movement, and spray foam is the leading choice in limiting leakage throughout your structure. Its powerful seal restricts conditioned air from escaping and outside air from entering, making your household much more comfortable and energy efficient.

The tight seal created by spray foam ensures that your heating and cooling systems work less hard to maintain the ideal temperature in your home. This reduces the workload and energy usage of these essential systems, reducing their operating costs and cutting your utility bills in the long run.

Why Spray Foam is the Best Choice for Modern Homes

Spray foam insulation has a high R-value, which indicates its superior resistance to heat flow. It also has the ability to conform to the unique design of your house, filling in spaces and crevices that other types of insulation cannot. Consequently, it is the ideal choice for new construction projects, basement rim joists, crawl spaces, overhangs (or cantilevers), knee walls and bonus rooms.

In addition to minimizing energy use, spray foam insulation also keeps out moisture and harmful pollutants, such as dust, mildew, pollen, and pest waste. These contaminants can contribute to the development of mold and other indoor air quality issues that require expensive remediation expenses. Spray foam insulation is non-toxic, and its vapor barrier helps to keep these contaminants from escaping into the interior of your home or building.

Spray foam insulation is made from polyurethane, and it has become significantly more eco-friendly over the years, thanks to reformulated blowing agents that don’t have the same global warming potential as their predecessors. For example, Texas-based Demilec offers a medium density closed cell spray polyurethane foam that is free of CFCs, HCFCs, and HFCs.

Types of Attic Insulation

Insulate It Solutions helps regulate the temperature in your home during the summer and winter. This allows your HVAC systems to run more efficiently while saving money on energy bills. It also improves indoor air quality (IAQ) by keeping outdoor pollutants, such as dirt, dust, radon and pollen, out of your home.

Fiberglass batt insulation is a common type of attic insulation. It is made from glass or mineral fibers that are woven together into sheets that are cut to fit between studs and joists in the attic space. It is often used in older homes as a replacement for old, worn-out insulation that may have been contaminated by animal droppings and nesting materials or by moisture. Fiberglass is a good choice for attic spaces because it provides an R-value of 3.0 to 3.5 per inch and fits well into attic spaces with standard joist spacing.

Top Benefits of Choosing Insulate It Solutions for Attic Insulation

Cellulose or cellulose blown-in insulation is another good attic insulation option. It is composed of recycled paper products and typically has an R-value of 3.2 to 3.7 per inch. It is an eco-friendly option and can help reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills. However, this type of insulation can be a fire hazard so it must be treated with ammonium sulfate or borate to make it fire-resistant.

Blown-in insulation is a more recent innovation and is usually installed by professional installers. It is a two-part liquid that expands into a foam upon curing, filling every crack and crevice in the attic space. This insulation is very cost-effective and can be applied to areas of the attic that are hard to reach with other types of insulation. It is also effective in reducing noise transmission through walls and ceilings.
